Scotty Thiel – Takes the Win at Wilmot!
The Scott Thiel Motorsports team headed to Wilmot Raceway on Saturday evening to race with the IRA Sprint Car Series. The team had made some solid runs with the series so far this year so far but haven’t been in the battle of winning contentions much. That changed on Saturday as Scotty Thiel would work his way from the fifth starting position to capture his first IRA victory on the year and second win overall in the 2019 season.
23 cars signed into Wilmot Raceway Saturday night. Scotty would go out 22nd in the qualifying order. After putting down a 12.930 lap time that was fifth quick on the night overall. That effort would place Thiel to start third in the heat race event. As the field was getting pushed off to start the heat race event, Scotty was unable to get the car started and went to the work area before the green flag flew. The crew changed the ignition box and that was the issue why the car wouldn’t start. Scotty would have to tag the rear of the heat race and officially started in the eighth position. That issue didn’t stop him from charging back up through the field as he would charge into the second position as the checkered flag flew. Since he had a fifth place qualifying effort, that heat race finish would lock him into the nightly redraw event which he would go on to pull the fifth starting position for the nights 30 lap main event. The field took the green for the main event and Thiel went to work quickly moving up through the field. After a few laps of green flag action, Thiel found himself battling for the second position and would take that over on lap six. He worked his way through traffic and got on the bumper of the leader. He worked the low line off of turn four and would take the lead down the front straightaway. Several late race cautions would bunch the field back up and put Thiel to work on the restart. Nothing would phase him as he would pull away from the field by several car lengths on the starts. The checkered flag flew as 30 laps of action would be complete and Scotty would cross the line and take home his first IRA win of the year and second win of the 2019 season! “Man, we had a really good car all night long. My guys got us set up well early in the night and we had to overcome a couple issue but made it all up here in the main. I cannot thank them enough for their efforts all night and all of our great marketing partners who help make our program run. This one feels good!” Thiel mentioned after the night.

Torsion Bar Rate:
Torsion bar testing has been around as long as the bar has. There are many different ways to test bars, but they all have the same goal.... to compare one bar to another and give the results in a numerical value (PSI, FORCE POUNDS, RATE).
