Scotty Thiel – Wins at Beaver Dam!

The STM team kicked off Memorial Day weekend with the IRA Sprints at Beaver Dam Raceway. Scotty started out the night with a solid qualifying effort and went on to win the heat. A great redraw pick would place him on the front row of the 30 lap main event and he would never look back and captured his first IRA win of the 2018 season and the second win for the team on the year. Unfortunately, they would head to 141 speedway on Sunday and encounter an early race dilemma which put Scotty into the wall and damaged the car severely.

27 cars checked into Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday night. Scotty was the 25th car out to qualify but still put down a solid lap and ended up 5th quick overall. That would place him to start 3rd in the heat race event. The field took the green flag and the field stormed into turn one. Scotty worked his way to the high groove and several laps later took the lead. He would go on to win his fourth straight heat race win in IRA action this year and locked himself into the redraw. Scotty picked a young fan out of the stands to pick his starting position which would be the pole for the 30 lap main event! The field took the green for the A-main event. Scotty charged to the top side of the track and led the field down the backstretch. He would lead the way for all 30 laps and picked up his first IRA win of the 2018 season. “Man this one felt really good. The 17 has been tough here and I knew he would give us a charge at the end but this car was a rocket all night long. I cannot thank my crew enough for working hard to get us here and all of our great partners who support us!”

Sunday would lead the team to 141 Speedway in Francis Creek. 24 cars were in attendance. Scotty was the 7th car out to qualify and would put down the 2nd quickest time of the night by only .003 seconds. That would place him to start fourth in the heat race event. The field took the green flag and charged into turn one. Thiel didn’t get the jump he wanted and slid into turn two in the fourth position. He got into the wall coming out of turn two and broke a right front shock. He still managed to pass for the third position and held that all race long. That finish would still lock him into the nightly redraw for the night. He would go on to draw the 8th starting position for the nights 30 lap main event. Scotty would begin to make his charge early in the main event. Battling for the fifth position he would enter into turn three and something went wrong. The car high sided hard and Scotty would get into the turn four wall really hard. Early diagnostics showed just a header and wing were damaged but the crew discovered the frame was bent and broke in one spot from the impact. That would end the night for Thiel. “I’m just really disappointed after having such a good night last night. These guys will work hard and get another one prepared and get ready for our busy week.” Stated Thiel after the main event.

A busy week is in store for the STM team. They will head to Macon Speedway in Macon, IL on Thursday night to race with the MOWA series. From there, they will travel to I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan to race with the World of Outlaws. They will then travel back to Wisconsin to race at Wilmot Raceway with the Outlaws again. Scotty will then travel to Angell Park Speedway on Sunday to race with the MSA 360 series.
STM would like to thank all of their marketing partners for all of their support in the 2017 season. They encourage everyone to check out these fine businesses and support those who support racing!

Torsion Bar Rate:
Torsion bar testing has been around as long as the bar has. There are many different ways to test bars, but they all have the same goal.... to compare one bar to another and give the results in a numerical value (PSI, FORCE POUNDS, RATE). This is good, but can be hard to understand. We simplify this process. The numbering system we use is standard to the torsion bar industries. During our test sessions, data is collected and stored in our software, which then calculates it to a torsion bar size that everyone can understand. We have found 1025 bars that test between a 1012 and a 1036 bar. Our test services take away the guesswork. We provide you with a TORSION BAR RATE. Check out www.torsionbarrate.com for more info!
