Manitowoc Recap

Coming off a great previous week of racing, the STM team was prepared to charge again at the Manitowoc County Expo Speedway this past Friday night. Scotty was getting pushed off for engine warm ups and discovered that the oil pressure was going down on the gauge pretty fast. He pulled the car out of gear and shut it off right away. Getting back to the pits, the crew saw a line of oil following the car. The crew thrashed to figure out a problem, and saw that oil coming out from the motor was by the oil filter. The guys changed the oil filter, put new oil in, and tried to push Scotty off again to see if that did in fact fix the problem. Again, Scotty had the same problem, but this time didn't have any oil pressure. By this time in the racing venue, Scotty had missed hot laps and the first heat race. Bound and determined, the STM crew found the problem which was a broken stem on the motor where the oil filter screws on to. Luckly, it was an easy fix, and the crew wanted to get the car pushed off to get atleast some heat in the motor before running the B-Main event. The car sounded good, no oil was coming out and the crew was just relieved that they had fixed the problem.
After starting 12th in the B-main evnet, Scotty needed to finish atleast 6th to transfer into the A-main event. At the green, Scotty charged forward and battled with a few cars at the end and did finish in the 6th and final transfer position. Thiel started 22nd in the A-main event and knew it was going to be a tricky one to move forward. Scotty took the green and carefully picked off car after car. A few yellow flags during the racing action later, Scotty found himself sitting in the top 10. On the last restart of the A-main event, Scotty was forced to restart on the bottom, where the car wasn't the greatest, so he tried to get up to the top side. He lost a few positions making that happen, but managed to get a couple back and finish in the 11th spot.
The STM crew and Scotty were pretty happy with how the night ended up. After the night started with the oil filter problems and then finishing with an 11th place finish in the A-main felt pretty good. STM would like to thank all of their sponsors: Complete Water Inc, Scott Thiel Builders, Advanced Compressor Tech., Rhey Graphics, Muehlbergs Fire Solutions, Fat Boys BBQ, Kaemmer Foods, Moyle Racing, Haven Bar&Grill, Tri-flow Lubricants, and DWT Racing.

Saturday night's racing was cancelled due to rain.
