Scotty Thiel – Victorious at Beaver Dam!
A single night of Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Car action took place last Saturday night at the Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI. After a long and intense A-main event, Scotty Thiel would prevail to the top and picked up the checkered flag! This win for Thiel would be his second consecutive IRA win and fourth on the season with the IRA, seventh win overall in his 2019 campaign.
28 cars signed into Beaver Dam Saturday night. Scotty was the 19th car out in the qualifying order. He put down a 12.000 lap time which was fifth quick on the night. That would place him to start third in his heat race event. Thiel didn’t get out to the best start in his heat race as he fell back to fourth early on. A mid race caution would help Thiel get the field bunched back up. He took advantage of the restart and would move himself into the third position with three laps to go and on the final lap would make a move in turn three to take over the second position as the checkered flag flew.
Thiel would go on and pick out the second starting position pill during the redraw portion of the night. As the A-main field would take the green flag, Thiel used the outside front row starting spot to zoom into the lead in turns one and two. He would quickly approach lap traffic a few laps later before a series of cautions would occur. Scotty held the lead all the way through the main event and then a red flag would come out just past half way as an open red would allow the crew to come out and make any changes necessary. As the field came back to green, Thiel would get a great launch and continue his charge ahead of the field. A late race red would come out and set the field up for a nine lap dash to the finish. Thiel would once again get a great start and never looked back. He would take home the win and made it back to back wins with the IRA! “Phew, this one feels pretty good. It was a long race there tonight. The track had its rough patches that made me get on my toes a few times. I’m just happy for this team, we’ve been working hard to get this program moving forward and it has showed. Thanks to all of our great partners who help this thing go!” Stated Thiel after the show.
Next on tap is a three day weekend starting Friday night at the Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, WI. The series would travel north after that to the Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday night for the Sheboygan County Fair event and then finally wrap up the weekend on Sunday at the 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, WI!

Torsion Bar Rate:
Torsion bar testing has been around as long as the bar has. There are many different ways to test bars, but they all have the same goal.... to compare one bar to another and give the results in a numerical value (PSI, FORCE POUNDS, RATE). This is good, but can be hard to understand. We simplify this process. The numbering system we use is standard to the torsion bar industries. During our test sessions, data is collected and stored in our software, which then calculates it to a torsion bar size that everyone can understand.
