Thiel acquires valuable lap time at Knoxville; MOWA and IRA weekend ahead

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (June 6, 2022) - The goal was to gain valuable lap time, and that’s exactly what the “Big Wheel” Scotty Thiel did on Saturday night at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, driving on to score a main event starting position amongst the 35-car field.

Thiel, driver of the Team 73, Gibbsville Cheese, Walkers Game Ear, Professional Plating Inc, Scott Thiel Builders, Stealth Cam, Muddy Outdoors, Complete Water Inc, KSI Supply, No. 73 sprint car, kicked-off his appearance at the Sprint Car Capital of the World by recording the 22nd fastest qualifying time, racing on to finish fourth during his respective heat race. Preliminary results would send the two-time IRA winner to the evening’s B-Main where he battled to finish third, qualifying for the evening’s feature. The Sheboygan, Wisconsin, native would go on to finish 22nd.

“It was good to get to Knoxville and turn some laps. You can never have too many laps at Knoxville,” Scotty Thiel acknowledged, who earned IRA wins this season at Beaver Dam and Sycamore. “We played with a new motor and chassis combination this weekend and that set us back a little bit. Despite the fact, my guys worked their tails off and we were able to learn a lot on Saturday night. That will play to our favor when we return.

“We have a big weekend ahead and we’re excited to get started,” Thiel added. “I think we have the potential to win on more than one occasion.”
