Thiel joins Greatest Show On Dirt in Texas Outlaw Nationals; US 36 and Lake Ozark next

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (April 4, 2022) - Despite a tough weekend in the south for Sheboygan, Wisconsin’s Scotty Thiel and Team 73, ultimately capping his weather-shortened weekend with a 24th-place score at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, on Saturday, April 2, the “Big Wheel” is already looking ahead, ready to hit the reset button and try again with the Greatest Show On Dirt in a pair of Missouri starts on Friday and Saturday, April 8-9.

Gearing miscalculations during Texas Outlaw Nationals qualifying, as well as a mechanical hiccup during the evening’s feature, led to Thiel’s early retirement at Devil’s Bowl; he started 17th and was scored 24th. The driver of the Gibbsville Cheese, Walkers Game Ear, Professional Plating Inc, Scott Thiel Builders, Stealth Cam, Muddy Outdoors, No. 73 sprint car was intended to make two starts with the World of Outlaws during the recent weekend, but Mother Nature stepped in and ruined the party, resulting in a cancelation at Lawton Speedway on Friday, April 1.

“It wasn’t the weekend we wanted for obvious reasons, but those will come and go. This team works hard and never gives up and that’s all I can ask for, especially when times get tough,” Thiel explained. “All we can do is work hard to improve during the coming weekend. I’ve had the opportunity to race at Lake Ozark, but never at US 36 Raceway, so we’ll put our notes together and be prepared to go.”

ON DECK:
The “Big Wheel” Scotty Thiel and Team 73 will continue their 2022 campaign with another high-paced weekend with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, this time battling through the Show-Me State with stops at US 36 Raceway in Osborn, Missouri, and Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri, on Friday and Saturday, April 8-9. The weekend will headline with the annual Jason Johnson Classic at Lake Ozark awarding $15,000 to the winner.
