Scotty Thiel - Wins at Butler!

After a weekend washout in Wisconsin with the Allstar Circuit of Champions and the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Car Series, Scotty Thiel and the Scott Thiel Motorsports team headed east on Saturday evening to the Butler Motor Speedway in Quincy, Michigan to get a night of racing in. That trip paid off for the team as Thiel would go on to win the 25 lap A-main event!

The original weekend plans were to race three nights in Wisconsin with the Allstar and IRA Series but Mother Nature would win that battle as those events were cancelled on Thursday. Scotty and the team looked at options on where to go racing that would not have any issues with weather. Butler Motor Speedway was a track that came up on the list of places racing and the weather looked good. The team made the five hour venture over on Saturday to visit the 3/8 mile high banked track in Quincy, Michigan. This was a local track event and they had a pill draw format for the heat race events.

17 cars were on hand and Thiel drew a 40 pill which set him to start ninth in the first heat race. A-main line ups were determined based on finish positions in the heat race. The field took the green flag for the eight lap heat race. Thiel slid high in the first corner and lost some ground on the field but would quickly regain momentum and began his charge forward. Working both grooves of the track, Scotty drove his way up into the third position as the checkered flag flew. All cars would transfer into the 25 lap main event where Thiel would find himself starting in the third position. As the field took the green for the main event, Thiel quickly made his move to settle into the second position before a caution would come out for a car stopping in turn four as only one lap was completed. On the restart, Thiel rocketed off of turn four and pulled alongside the leader going into turn one. Thiel gain the lead off of turn two and another caution came out. Thiel claimed the lead and would set the field back to green. Scotty would hold onto a commanding lead and quickly came upon lap traffic. He worked his way through traffic working the top side of the track. Thiel would carry on his momentum and lead all of the remaining laps and claim his first win of the 2019 season! “We’ve had a rocky start to the season and haven’t had the results we were hoping for. Tonight helped get a little confidence back into our program and got the first win of the season out of the way. Hopefully we can head back home and build on this.” Thiel mentioned after the event.

Next on tap for the #64 STM team is this coming weekend starting off at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI on Saturday night and following that up on Sunday at the 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, WI. All events are with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Car Series.

Torsion Bar Rate:
Torsion bar testing has been around as long as the bar has. There are many different ways to test bars, but they all have the same goal.... to compare one bar to another and give the results in a numerical value (PSI, FORCE POUNDS, RATE).
