Scotty Thiel – Doubles up Top 5 Performances in Wisconsin & Illinois
The Scott Thiel Motorsports #64 team headed out to a double header weekend with the IRA this past Saturday and Sunday night. The first stop was to the Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI where Thiel would charge his way to a big heat race win and follow it up with a podium third place finish. Sunday night would bring the team south to the LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, IL. Thiel would fight his way to a fourth place finish in the 30 lap main event.
34 cars were on hand Saturday at Beaver Dam Raceway. Thiel was the fourth car out to qualify and would end up timing in sixth fastest of the night. That would place him to start third in the heat race event. After taking the green flag, Thiel rocketed to the top groove of the track and took the lead out of turn two. He never looked back and would take home the heat race victory by over eight seconds. During the redraw, Thiel drew the fifth starting position for the nights 30 lap A-main event. The main event would go on to be green to checkered without any cautions and Thiel worked his way up to the third position early on in the event but was unable to catch the top two lead cars at the end. “We had a pretty decent night really. I wish we could have had a caution during the main to just bunch us all back up but a third place finish is nothing to complain about. We’ll try again tomorrow!” Thiel stated after the event.
The team travelled south on Sunday to the LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, IL for the annual Bill Waite Memorial event. 35 cars were on hand that night and Thiel would put down the fourth fastest time of the night in qualifying. That placed him to start fourth in the heat race event. Scotty didn’t get the greatest start in the heat and fell back to the fifth position. He would eventually battle his way back up and cross the finish line in the fourth position. He would draw the fifth starting position again for the 30 lap main event. The field went green and Thiel would work the low line for the first few laps and drove his way up to the third position. He jumped up to the top side of the track and began to chase the leaders down. A few cautions would come out during the course of the event but Thiel still maintained his position. As the field would work their way into lap traffic, Scotty battled past a car but would end up losing a position in the process and dropped to the fourth position. He would end up crossing the finish line in the fourth spot and cap off another top five finish for the weekend. “There were a lot of good cars here tonight and we ran up front for most of the night. Just messed up in traffic a little and that lost us a spot. Still was a good weekend overall and we will get ready for next weekend.”
Next on tap is this coming Friday and Saturday night at the Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wisconsin. This is the championship weekend for the IRA Series. Scotty currently trails by 36 points in the championship battle.

Torsion Bar Rate:
Torsion bar testing has been around as long as the bar has.
