Scotty Thiel – Sixth at Beaver Dam
Saturday night presented the second last event of the IRA season at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI. Scotty and the team prepared all week for the final event at the track for 2016. After changing track conditions played a major factor in the night, Scotty would charge his way up to a solid sixth place finish in the 30 lap A-main event.
34 cars were in attendance Saturday night at Beaver Dam. Scotty drew a 7 pill which placed him to go out third in the lineup for qualifying. After laying down a 12.138 lap time that was good enough for 8th quick overall. The sun set during qualifying along with increased dampness which helped the track and actually lap times picked up as qualifying went on. Scotty would start fifth in the ten lap heat race event. The track became very rough as the night went on which made for exciting heat races as cars were bouncing around the track. Scotty used his patience throughout the ten laps and took advantage of the bouncing cars and moved his way up to the third position as the checkered flag flew. That would transfer him into the nights A-main event but he would fall short of the redraw and have to start 12th in the main. The crew did not make many changes as the track stayed very heavy and rough. Scotty knew it was going to be a tough race but prepared for a good outcome. At the drop of the green flag Scotty worked the middle groove and bounced his way up several position early on. He started to move up the track and took advantage of the cars slowing down to run the bottom to avoid the big ruts in the track. That would move his way up to the sixth position with 9 laps to go but was unable to move any further after the completion of 30 laps. “It was a rough one out there tonight. Just holding on for 30 laps was a challenge in itself. Moving up six spots in the main felt good. I think we left some out there but having a car in one piece is always a good night.” Stated Thiel after the event.
Up next on the STM schedule is the final night of the IRA Sprint Car Series on Saturday October 1st at the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam, WI. Scotty currently sits 2nd in the IRA point standings and is trailing 86 points after having a rough August that set him behind.

Torsion Bar Rate:
Torsion bar testing has been around as long as the bar has. There are many different ways to test bars, but they all have the same goal.... to compare one bar to another and give the results in a numerical value (PSI, FORCE POUNDS, RATE).
