Scotty Thiel - Luck at LaSalle and Problems at the Prairie
This past weekend for the Scott Thiel Motorsports team showcased better luck and bad luck. The team started off Saturday night in LaSalle Speedway for the Bill Waite Memorial where Scotty would charge to a solid top five performance and they followed that up with the last visit to Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI which did not go so well as engine gremlins brought trouble to the team.
Saturday night in LaSalle, Scotty drew a bad number which put him to go out 32nd out of the 35 cars in attendance. After laying down an 11.559 lap time it would place him 11th quick for the night. He would go on to start the ten lap heat race event in the fourth position. The field took the green and Scotty charged up to the top side of the track. He moved into the third position off of turn two and would slide his way up to the second position going into turn three. He charged down the leader but would have loose his momentum to avoid a lap car with one lap to go. Thiel settled for the second place finish and would lock himself in to the nights 30 lap A-main event. Scotty would go on to start the A-main in the 15th position. After taking the green flag, Scotty worked the low groove for the first part of the race and advanced his way forward. He began to change his lines when lap traffic became a factor and still continued to pass cars for position. With a green white checkered restart, Scotty found himself sitting in the fifth position. After going back to green flag action, he tried hard to move forward but was just shy at the finish line and would settle for a solid fifth place finish. “This feels good not only for me but out entire team. We needed a good run after the last few weeks.” Mentioned Thiel after the event.
Sunday night showcased the IRA and MOWA series together at the Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie. This was the final visit of the year for the IRA Series. Scotty drew a 38 pill which placed him 11th out of 25 cars in attendance. Scotty’s first lap was a 12.560 but then he would have the engine expire on him on the second lap of qualifying. That lap time was still good enough for 10th quick overall. The crew when to work and thrashed to get a spare engine in the car. They managed to get it changed out and ready to go before the heat race action occurred. Scotty started third in the 10 lap heat race event and would hold on to finish third after not really having any type of setup in the car as they were not able to see how the track changed after qualifying due to getting the backup motor in. That still locked Thiel into the main event and he would go on to start in the 12th position. As the field took the green flag for the 30 lap main event, Scotty began to move his way forward. Several cautions occurred which regroup the field and helped Thiel advance forward. A red flag flew with only 10 laps to go and Scotty found himself in the sixth position. After going back to green flag action, Thiel would complete two more laps before losing oil pressure and pulled off the track. This would end his night and settled for 21st place.
The crew will be preparing all week for the upcoming weekend which will showcase the IRA Sprints Friday night at the Sheboygan County Fair in Plymouth, WI and then they will follow up that event on Sunday at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, WI.

Torsion Bar Rate:
Torsion bar testing has been around as long as the bar has. There are many different ways to test bars, but they all have the same goal.... to compare one bar to another and give the results in a numerical value (PSI, FORCE POUNDS, RATE).
