Scotty Thiel – Fifth at the Zone!
Friday night’s racing action was presented by the Oshkosh Speedzone in Oshkosh, WI. Scotty Thiel and the Scott Thiel Motorsports team struggled early on in the evening after getting tangled up with some cars in the heat race but he managed to still put himself in position to make the A-main event and would go on to charge his way to a solid 5th place finish after starting 13th!
Scotty drew a 47 pill which put him 17th in line for qualifying but the series went to group qualifying format after some late track prep occurred. Scotty put down a 13.828 lap time which placed him 11th quick overall out of the 30 cars in attendance. That would line him up to start third in the ten lap heat race event. When the field took the green, the cars drove into turn one before one car got sideways and collected Thiel as he spun to avoid contact. He would rejoin the field in the ninth spot and would move his way forward to the sixth and final transfer position for the 30 lap A-main event. Thiel would go on to start the A-main event in the 13th position and knew he would have to work hard to move forward on the tricky track. The field took the green flag for the night’s 30 lap main event and Thiel began his mission forward in turn one. He worked through the middle of the track and picked up a spot coming down the back stretch. He began to move up toward the high side of the track and built up a lot of momentum. Moving up through the field, Thiel continued to use every inch of the track to make passes and found himself in the top five with less than ten laps to go. He charged around the top groove and battled into the fourth position with six laps to go. Scotty would then move up into the third position with only three laps to go but a caution flag would wave and bunch the field back together. After returning back to green flag action, Scotty did not get the start he wanted and would fall back two positions going down the back stretch. He tried to battle his way back but was unable to get the grip he needed and would settle for a fifth place finish after the conclusion on 30 laps. “It was still a respectable night for our team after getting tangled up in the heat race. I knew the car was good and it came alive half way through the main. It was a rocket ship until that last caution. The tires went way bad and there wasn’t much left for me out there. Lost a few spots at the end which I’m bummed out about but we’ll take another top five finish and move forward tomorrow night.” Concluded Thiel at the end of the night.
The following night was supposed to be at Eagle Valley Raceway in Jim Falls, WI but Mother Nature decided it was her turn to win and they would cancel the event due to heavy rains that came through the area.
Next on Tap for the Scott Thiel Motorsports team is this coming Wednesday night where they will travel to Peoria Speedway in Peoria, IL with the first night of Illinois Sprint Week with the MOWA Series and then will follow that up this weekend as they travel north to the Langlade County Speedway in Antigo, WI on Friday night with the IRA and then they will follow that event up on Saturday at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, WI with the World of Outlaws.

Torsion Bar Rate:
Torsion bar testing has been around as long as the bar has. There are many different ways to test bars, but they all have the same goal.... to compare one bar to another and give the results in a numerical value (PSI, FORCE POUNDS, RATE).
