Seasons End after Dodge County Washout

After a struggling motor issue the week before at Beaver Dam Raceway, Scotty and the team went to work during the week to determine what was causing the issues. The motor went back by the motor builder who determined it had to be an issue in the fuel system that caused the engine issues. Well with that said, the fuel pump flowed perfect at Engler Injection, so it was now time to evaluate the fuel lines. A thorough investigation took place with each fuel line and it was later determined that under pressure, the main fuel line from the fuel cell to the fuel filter was collapsing.

New fuel lines were set in place and a fresh engine came back to the shop for the final night of racing at the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Weather was going to be a factor but held off for longer than expected. Cars were pushed off for engine warm ups along with hot laps to follow immediately. Scotty went off in the first MSA hot lap session where he would lay down the fastest lap of the evening in the MSA Division.

Scotty said that the car was a rocket and could feel a difference with the motor. The power showed as he was running cars down very quickly in the hot lap session.

However, the rain showers came directly after the hot lap session and would cancel the evening racing event. That would also conclude the 2013 MSA Sprint Car Series race season.

It was an up and down season for the Scott Thiel Motorsports race team. The season started off with a solid top 10 finish at the Winter Nationals in East Bay, Florida and continued to go well with two podium finishes with the Sprint Invader series in Iowa. When the local MSA series started in May, that is when the season began to turn the opposite way. Engine issues haunted the team and continues for quite some time. The team's ASCS 360 program however continued well as they pulled off the first win of the season at the St. Croix Valley Raceway on Memorial day weekend where that followed up with two more top five finishes. The season high was when the team pulled off a huge win at the $5,000 to win Open Wheel Nationals in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. A new experience for the entire team took place a few weeks later when they decided to make the haul to race at the Kings Royal event at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. They participated in the King of the 360's portion of the Royal. More engine issues took place with their MSA program but they were able to get that turned around in August. Labor Day weekend was another one for the books as they pulled off their third win of the season by winning the Mighty Axe Nationals in Brainerd, Minnesota at the North Central Speedway. The hot streak began after when they would go on to win the following weekend at the Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wisconsin with the MSA Series. The wins continued that next week again on Friday the 13th with a victory at the Oshkosh Speedzone in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

After wrapping up the year with a total of 30 races, the team was able to pull off 5 A-main victories along with 16 top 5 finishes and 19 top 10 finishes. They did not race as much as they had hoped but engine issues caused that from happening. However, it was still a strong year as they increased their top five and top ten performances.

Scott Thiel Motorsports and Scotty Thiel would like to personally thank each and every partner that came on board for the 2013 racing season. Without everyone's support on the team, it would not have been possible to do what they did this year. Please take time and check out each of these fine businesses.
