Scotty Thiel – Top 10 Charge
The final night of Bumper to Bumper IRA 410 Sprint Car racing set place at the Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, WI. Scotty entered the night 7th in IRA points after falling back a few spots in September due to the bad luck of engine misfortunes. Thiel drew a 35 pill which set him to go out 17th out of 30 cars in Qualifying. After being tenth quick on the night, he followed that up with a fourth place finish in the heat and charged his way to a respectable sixth place finish in the feature after starting 13th but falling back due to early contact.
30 cars were entered into the IRA portion of the final night of racing. Scotty went out 17th and laid down a time of 11.917 which was 10th quick overall. That placed him to start inside row number two of the heat race event. Thiel fell back to the fourth spot in turn one and would hold that position all ten laps of the heat race. He would miss the invert for the top ten positions in the A-main starting lineup and would end up starting 13th in the 30 lap main event. The main event did not start out as well as everyone hoped. The field took the green but a caution came out and the front of the field would make contact and a red quickly came out after several cars got upside down. On the second attempt, two cars made contact in turn one to bring out another red flag. On the third attempt, the field made it to the backstretch but the front runners made contact in turn three and one would end up flipping to bring out the third caution. Scotty managed to avoid all wrecks at this point in time. The fourth attempt the field finally made it one lap but another red came out after some cars in the back of the field made contact. The field finally went back to green flag action. Several laps into the event, Thiel made his way up to the fifth spot but made contact with a car after they broke going into turn one. Scotty’s car got locked on the back of the other car which drove into the infield but Thiel was able to break away but came back on to the track in the last position. He began his charge forward running in the middle groove and it started to work out. Scotty began to pass cars every single lap and was on a mission to the front. At the halfway point, Thiel found himself up to the tenth position and the lead cars were all in sight. Charging forward he was back up to the sixth position with only a few laps left. The event was pushed back to 25 laps after the mayhem that occurred in the beginning of the main. The white flag flew and Scotty was right on the bumper of the fifth place car but was unable to make the move for position. He would cross the line in the sixth position. “Well I cannot really complain about the performance we just put on out there. We were dead last after getting tangled up with the 14. The car was on rails that is for sure. If we could have maintained the position we were in before that little tangle up I think we were good enough to win. We needed those 5 extra laps at the end to get a few more spots. I can’t thank my sponsors enough for sticking through this rough season we had and my crew for their help.”
That put a wrap on the 2015 Scott Thiel Motorsports IRA season. Scotty ended up finishing 6th in IRA points after the solid run at Plymouth which moved him up one spot. More events in 2015 season are To Be Determined but it looks like the team will start focusing on putting the 2016 season program together soon.

Torsion Bar Rate:
Torsion bar testing has been around as long as the bar has. There are many different ways to test bars, but they all have the same goal.... to compare one bar to another and give the results in a numerical value (PSI, FORCE POUNDS, RATE).
