Scotty Thiel - Podium at the Prairie!
Mother nature once again took out a night for the STM #64 team as they were scheduled to race at Eagle Valley Raceway in Jim Falls, WI. Bad storms caused damage at the track and forced them to cancel the event. Sunday, however was a great day for racing as the team headed to Angell Park Speedway in Sun Praire, WI for their third appearance this year. Thiel finally had some luck this go around and ended up taking the third place podium spot after the 30 lap A-main event.
After drawing a 36 pill for qualifying, Scotty drove a very fast lap which ended up to be 7th quick overall out of the 33 cars in attendance. That qualifying time set Thiel to start 5th in the heat race event. Difficult passing occurred throughout the heat races but at the end of 10 laps, Thiel managed to take the 5th and final transfer spot into the main event and also was eligible for the A-main redraw.
The redraw pill was chosen and it lined Scotty up for the A-main in third place. The crew went to work to prepare the 64 car and the difficult track at hand. Officials called the A-main cars to the track and began to prepare for the 30 lap event. Coming to the green flag, Scotty worked the bottom groove of the track and managed his position. Several laps into the main, Scotty found himself in the fifth spot but there were plenty of laps left to go. A quick caution came out on lap four and lined Thiel up in forth. After going back to green, Scotty began to work the top side of the track. He made his way forward and got back into the third spot. The race went green for a long time and Scotty began to reel in the leaders as heavy lap traffic approached. With only three laps to go, Scotty started to make his move into second place but a caution came out for a car with a flat tire. After lining back up for a green, white, checkered finish, Scotty attempted to charge the bottom side of the track but failed to move forward. He settled back into third and would cross the finish line in that position. “I have to first off thank the fans for coming out tonight. We had a great car tonight but just couldn’t pull it off there at the end. My guys worked very hard to give me this tonight. We finally had a good run here and it feels great!” Thiel mentioned after the main event.
Next up on the Scott Thiel Motorsports schedule is this Friday at the Oshkosh Speedzone and Saturday at Wilmot Raceway with the Allstars & IRA.

Torsion Bar Rate:
Torsion bar testing has been around as long as the bar has. There are many different ways to test bars, but they all have the same goal.... to compare one bar to another and give the results in a numerical value (PSI, FORCE POUNDS, RATE). This is good, but can be hard to understand. We simplify this process. The numbering system we use is standard to the torsion bar industries.
